It's not just that your hair is more porous and can take color in WAY faster and darker/ashier it's that when you use color oops, what you're doing is turning those old dye molecules clear and rinsing them out to remove as much of that pigment as you can, but there's almost always some clear molecules in there just waiting to turn back dark again. My concern is, like I said, that the developer in dye (the white goopy stuff you mix the dye into) is what can reactivate those dark dye molecules. I wouldn't recommend using a box dye since you can't tell what's really in those formulations.
